Prominent among the operas that have helped make the La Scala legend is certainly Giorgio Strehler’s 1981 production of Le nozze di Figaro, with scenery by Ezio Frigerio, costumes by Franca Squarciapino, and Riccardo Muti leading the orchestra. Strehler reprised a project envisaged for Paris, adapting it to the La Scala stage and creating a masterwork of elegance, proportions, and narrative clarity. For the return of this classic, La Scala has called Andrés Orozco-Estrada to the podium and assembled a cast pairing consummate artists with young talents: Luca Micheletti and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo as Figaro and Conte, Olga Beszmertna and Benedetta Torre as Susanna.
