LaScalaTv is the streaming service that allows you to watch operas, ballets, concerts and exclusive contents produced by Teatro alla Scala from any device connected to the Internet that supports a standard browser: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari.

Yes. The viewing of Live and On Demand contents is reserved for registered users. Registration is totally free and those who are already registered on the Teatro alla Scala website will be able to use the same credentials.
Registration can be done on the page accessible from this link.

• Go to the “lascala.tv” site using a browser.
• Click on login at the top right.
• Click on 'Sign up now' (this link is located under the <SIGN IN> button).
• Create an account by entering the required data.
• Go back to the site “lascala.tv” to rent and see the shows.

To change your password you should follow the same procedure as for recovering a forgotten password (see next FAQ).

To retrieve a forgotten password, click on Login at the top right of any page on the LaScalaTv website; on the screen that appears, find and click on the link "Forgot your password?" and follow the subsequent instructions.

Passwords for accessing LaScalaTv must be created respecting the following rules:
The number of characters must be between a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 23, with at least 3 of the following characteristics: at least one lowercase letter, at least one capital letter, at least one digit and/or at least one symbol between @ # $ % ^ & * - _ + = [ ] { } | \ : ' , ? / ` ~ " ( ) ; .

If you are already registered and do not remember your password, you can retrieve it or change it. See the FAQ "How can I change my password, or recover a forgotten password?". 

If you are not registered, you must register. In that case please see the FAQ "How can I register on LaScalaTv?".

For most of the live shows, the content will be available for on demand replay a few hours after the end of the show, and will be available for the following 7 days.

Some shows might be available only in live streaming, without possibility of replay in a successive catch-up period, or a shorter run after the live broadcast. These cases are specified in the show’s description page.

No. The live content is comparable to a television broadcast. For most shows, where a catch-up period is provided, you can however watch it from the beginning a few hours after the end of the show.

Click on the 'Subtitles' icon at the bottom right of the media player control bar.

Subtitles vary depending on the performance. They are usually in at least 3 languages: Italian, English and in the main language of the opera. Our commitment is to make each opera available with subtitles in 6 languages.

By clicking on the headphone icon that appears, only if there is actually audio in several languages, at the bottom right of the Media Player control bar. However, only some shows will be in multiple languages and the main content will only be in the original language. The multi-language audio will be available mainly during the interviews that take place during the intermissions.

LaScalaTv recommends a minimum download speed of 1 Megabit/sec for SD (Standard Definition) content, 6 Megabit/sec for HD (High Definition) content, 12 Megabit/sec for UltraHD (4k Consumer) content. LaScalaTv offers the highest possible streaming quality based on available bandwidth.

The audio of the "on demand" shows is in stereo AAC format, with a sampling rate of 48kHz and a bitrate of 192kbps.
The audio of the "live" shows is in stereo AAC format, with a sampling rate of 48kHz and a bitrate of 320kbps.

Currently this format is not supported.

Video is in the H.265 digital compression standard format and is made available in multiple qualities (bitrates). The maximum quality available is UltraHD (4K Consumer) and is transmitted at a bitrate of approximately 12 Megabit/sec. Obviously, the maximum quality available for a show also depends on the choice you made when renting.

You can watch LaScalaTv from any device connected to the Internet that supports a standard browser: Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari. LaScalaTv compatible devices include streaming media players, Smart TVs, game consoles, Smartphones, Tablets, Windows PCs and Macs.

If the television set is a Smart TV, is connected to the Internet and has a state-of-the-art browser, this is sufficient:

• Visit the site LaScalaTv ( https://www.lascala.tv );
• Register: registration is totally free and those who are already registered on the Teatro alla Scala website will be able to use the same credentials.

• Select the content of interest;
• Click on the <Play> button and start viewing.

On the other hand, if your television set is NOT a Smart TV, then please refer to the FAQ "How can I watch LaScalaTv with a non-Smart TV?".

The recommended way is to transmit the video to the TV from a Smartphone (or Tablet) or Windows PC or Mac.

The connection to the TV of each type of device requires a particular procedure, so you should consult the specific FAQ.

It is possible to connect your Windows PC to your TV or projector via HDMI cable or via Chromecast.

To find out how to do this, see the specific FAQ.

Make sure you have an HDMI cable that supports the desired video resolution: FullHD or UltraHD (4K Consumer); then connect the cable to the HDMI port on your TV or video projector and use the remote control to select the source to which you have connected the cable (HDMI1 - HDMI2 - HDMI3 etc.); connect the other end of the HDMI cable to your computer by inserting it into the HDMI or DisplayPort or USB Type-C port (depending on the brand and model of your computer), possibly using special adapters.
Once the cable connection has been made, if screen duplication is not automatically activated, activate screen duplication from the Windows PC menu and start the Internet Browser (Chrome, Firefox or Edge, making sure it is updated to the latest version available); then type in the address https://www.lascala.tv, and select the options in the navigation menu up to the desired content.
Select the content you wish to stream and start the media player by clicking on the <Play> button.
To view the video in full screen you can click on the specific icon in the Media Player.
Also make sure that the sound is turned on at the desired volume in both the computer and the TV or home theater system, if any.

If your TV (or video projector) doesn't already have a built-in Chromecast function, make sure your Chromecast device is connected to the Internet and connected to your TV or video projector via HDMI cable.
Select on the TV or video projector the source to which the Chromecast is connected (HDMI1 - HDMI2 - HDMI3 etc.).
Make sure that your computer is connected to the same WiFi network to which the Chromecast device is connected, and launch your Internet Browser (Chrome, Firefox or Edge, making sure it is updated to the latest version available); then type in the address https://www.lascala.tv, and select the options in the navigation menu until the desired content is displayed.
Select the content you wish to stream and start the Multimedia Player by clicking on the <Play> button.
In the Media Player, click on the icon corresponding to the 'cast connection' and select the Chromecast device connected to the TV or video projector.
To view the video in full screen you can click on the specific icon in the Media Player.
Also make sure that the sound is activated at the desired volume in both the computer and the TV or home theater system, if any.

You can connect your Mac (or MacBook) to your TV or projector via HDMI cable, via AirPlay, or via an Apple TV device.

To find out how to do this, see the specific FAQ.

Ensure that you have an HDMI cable that supports the desired video resolution: FullHD or UltraHD (4K Consumer); then connect the cable to the HDMI port on the TV or video projector and select the source to which you have connected the cable (HDMI1 - HDMI2 - HDMI3 etc.) using the remote control; connect the other end of the HDMI cable to the Mac (or MacBook) by inserting it into the HDMI or Thunderbolt or USB Type-C port, possibly using suitable adapters.
Once the cable connection has been made, if screen duplication is not automatically activated, activate screen duplication from the Mac's menu and start the Internet Browser (Safari, Firefox or Chrome, making sure it is updated to the latest version available); then type in the address https://www.lascala.tv, and select the options in the navigation menu up to the desired content.
Select the content you wish to stream and start the media player by clicking on the <Play> button.
To view the video in full screen you can click on the specific icon in the Media Player.
Also make sure that the sound is turned on at the desired volume in both the Mac and the TV or home theater system, if any.

If your TV (or video projector) natively supports the AirPlay protocol, you can connect your Mac (or MacBook) to the TV or video projector via AirPlay directly.
If, on the other hand, AirPlay is NOT natively integrated, then you need to use an Apple TV device (to find out how to do this, see the specific FAQ).
So make sure your TV has AirPlay support built in natively and is connected to the Internet.
Make sure that your Mac (or MacBook) is connected to the same WiFi network to which your TV is connected, and start your Internet Browser (Safari, Firefox or Chrome, making sure it is updated to the latest version available); then type in the address https://www.lascala.tv, and select the options in the navigation menu up to the desired content.
Select the content you wish to stream and start the Multimedia Player by clicking on the <Play> button.
In the Multimedia Player, click on the icon corresponding to the "AirPlay" connection and select the device to which you want to connect your Mac or Macbook (TV or video projector).
Alternatively, start screen duplication via AirPlay using the appropriate option in the System Preferences of your Mac (or Macbook).
To view the video in full screen you can click on the specific icon in the Media Player.
Also make sure that the sound is turned on at the desired volume in both the Mac (or MacBook) and the TV or home theater system, if any.

Ensure that the Apple TV device is connected to the Internet and is connected via an HDMI cable to the TV or projector.
Ensure that the Apple TV Operating System (tvOS) is updated to the latest version available.
Select the source on the TV or video projector to which the Apple TV device is connected (HDMI1 - HDMI2 - HDMI3 etc.).
Make sure that your Mac (or MacBook) is connected to the same WiFi network to which the Apple TV device is connected and start the Internet Browser (Safari, Firefox or Chrome, making sure it is updated to the latest version available); then type in the address https://www.lascala.tv, and select the options in the navigation menu up to the desired content.
Select the content you wish to stream and start the Multimedia Player by clicking on the <Play> button.
In the Media Player, click on the icon corresponding to the "AirPlay" connection and select the Apple TV device to which you want to connect your Mac or Macbook.
Alternatively, start screen duplication via AirPlay using the appropriate option in the System Preferences of your Mac (or Macbook).
To view the video in full screen, click on the specific icon in the Media Player.
Also make sure that the sound is turned on at the desired volume in both the Mac (or MacBook), the Apple TV device, and the TV set or home theater system, if any.

You can connect a Smartphone or Tablet to your TV or projector via an HDMI Cable, or via AirPlay if you have an iPhone or iPad, or via Chromecast if you have an Android Smartphone or Tablet.

You can connect your iPhone to your TV or projector, via AirPlay or an Apple TV device, but NOT via an HDMI cable.

You can connect your iPad to your TV or projector, via AirPlay or an Apple TV device, but NOT via an HDMI cable.

If your TV (or video projector) natively supports the AirPlay protocol, you can connect your iPhone or iPad to the TV or video projector via AirPlay directly.
If, on the other hand, AirPlay is NOT natively integrated, then you have to use an Apple TV device (to find out how to do this, see the specific FAQ).

Select the content you wish to stream and start the Multimedia Player by clicking on the <Play> button.
In the Media Player, click on the icon corresponding to the "AirPlay" connection and select the Apple TV device to which you want to connect your iPhone or iPad.

You can connect an Android Smartphone or Tablet to your TV or video projector via HDMI cable or via Chromecast.

Select the content you wish to stream and start the Multimedia Player by clicking on the <Play> button.
In the Media Player, click on the icon corresponding to the 'cast connection' and select the Chromecast device connected to the TV or video projector.
To view the video in full screen you can click on the specific icon in the Media Player.
Also make sure that the sound is activated at the desired volume in both the Smartphone or Tablet and the TV or home theater system, if any.

If you are experiencing problems viewing streaming or live events on LaScalaTv, please check that the device you are using is supported and that your download speed is sufficient. LaScalaTv recommends a minimum download speed of 1 Megabit/sec for SD (Standard Definition) content, 6 Megabit/sec for HD (High Definition) content, 12 Megabit/sec for UltraHD (4k Consumer) content. LaScalaTv offers the highest possible streaming quality based on available bandwidth.

If you just can't, remember that for most of the show you will still get the content in catch-up on demand starting the next day for 7 days.

Some shows might be available only in live streaming, without possibility of replay in a successive catch-up period. These cases are specified in the show’s description page.

Check if the sound of your device is on and that the volume is not too low. 

If you are using a TV, also check the volume of the TV and that the audio source is correctly configured.

First check if you can see correctly the Test Video corresponding to the format (HD or UHD 4k) you want to rent WITH THE SYSTEM THAT WILL BE USED TO VIEW THE RENTED CONTENTS.
Test videos can be found on all Web pages where you rent the shows.

If you do see it, try reloading the web page with the content you were trying to see. If you still do not see it, contact our ‘Customer Service’.

If you still cannot see the Test Video, it may be that the Internet bandwidth of your connection is not sufficient to support streaming. In this case, we suggest you to perform a "speed test" by searching Google for "speed test" and clicking on the "Perform Speed Test" button, or on a specialized site (such as "www.speedtest.net"), and then to contact our ‘Customer Service’ indicating the Internet bandwidth (in Download) detected by the "speed test", the device you are using, and the content you are trying to watch.

Of course, and for this we have concluded a specific agreement with the SIAE.
