L'amore dei tre re

L’amore dei tre re, a tragic poem with libretto by Sem Benelli, set in a Medieval Italy beset by barbarian invasions, is the best known work by Italo Montemezzi, which rose to fame thanks to its acclaim among major conductors of the time. After the premiere conducted by Tullio Serafin at La Scala in 1913, the opera was performed at the Metropolitan in New York by Toscanini, and returned to Milan for the last time with Victor de Sabata in 1953.

The new production is conducted by Pinchas Steinberg, with stage direction in the capable hands of Àlex Ollé, a prestigious name from La Fura dels Baus.

The protagonist, accompanied by the much acclaimed Giorgio Berrugi, is the young Chiara Isotton, who is beginning a brilliant career after completing her studies at the La Scala Academy.
